Audio Playlist for BuddyPress members

Hi I am currently working on a BuddyPress site, which is specific to music professionals.

I am looking provide BuddyPress members with the ability to upload music directly to a playlist, which then appears on the member’s profile. I have previously tried RT Media but have been unhappy with the way it presents the music.

I was therefore wondering if anyone knows of a plugin that can achieve this or alternatively, a way of creating it?

    Thanks

    Hannah

@hannahcaswell As far as I am aware rtMedia is going to be the closest plugin you’ll get to helping you achieve your requirements. If the problem is just how the audio is presented then perhaps try looking into how you can change the display via CSS. If you’re not comfortable with CSS then could you think about changing your theme?

Me too, I don’t like the way rtmedia presents the display of media. So I tried to manage a kind of playlist for mp3 by using BP xProfile Custom Fields Type.

I wrote a short tutorial on how I did it: take a look right here

You guys should let the rtMedia plugin developers know you’re unhappy with the display. If enough people agree then I’m sure they’d look into it!

Thanks for the pointers everyone. Noizeburger I will definitely have a look at your tutorial. Sounds really promising.

I have already mentioned this to RT Media but unfortunately, there hasn’t been any changes to the way the audio tracks are displayed.

Thanks again anyway. Really appreciate everyone’s help.

@noizeburger Just working through you tutorial and all has made perfect sense to me, except the last bit.

I have added the facility for the track uploads and these are appearing on the site. However, I don’t understand how I can get all this to display as a playlist. I have downloaded ‘HTML5 jQuery Audio Player’ but don’t understand how this can connect to the tracks uploaded by BuddyPress members.

Sorry to be a pain. I was just hoping you’d be able to point me in the right direction.

    Thanks

    Hannah
