Automatically Add User as Friend on Signup

I’m trying to make it so a specified user (admin) is automatically added as a friend for every user that signs up. This is basically the same way MySpace works with Tom. I’d like to start on everyone’s friend list so I show up on the messages auto-complete. I swear I saw this functionality in one of the files but can’t seem to find it now. Thanks in advance!

There is a plugin for Elgg that does this. Could this be what you’re remembering?

What a great idea. Never thought of that. That message about ‘you have no friends’ (something like that) is kinda bleak. We could have the system send them a ‘friendship request’ from admin. That way they learn a little about the adminbar and the member theme right away. That glaring (1) next to notifications would be hard to resist. Click Me.

Doing that it’s a lot easy, you’ve tu use this buddypress function friends_add_friend($initiator_userid,$friend_userid)

i will work on a plugin now, i hope in 15 minutes i’m here with a new plugin

@wardeh – No, I thought I saw a comment in one of the files about this. Could never get past installing Elgg unfortunately.

Anyone try out the plugin yet?
