Avatar Crop Tool Offset

  • I’ve been using these forums for a bit now as I roll out our own BuddyPress installation and seeing how others are resolving various issues. I’m hoping someone has experienced this one too as I can’t figure it out! I couldn’t find any posts similar to this one…

I’ve got WPMU 2.7.1 and BuddyPress 1.0.2 installed. I’m using the default bpmembers theme.

When I go and try to edit a group avatar, I upload the image and the crop tool comes up. If I try to grab the edges to resize the crop area, the box will usually jump to some other area of the image. As I drag left, the crop area doesn’t resize until I’m about 250-300px to the left. Similarly with dragging up/down, the crop area won’t resize until I’m about 400px away. It seems to be equal to the distance from the top of the page to the top of the cropping image and from the right edge of the options bar to the left edge of the cropping image.

If I had to guess, the cropper javascript is getting the wrong value for the cursor position relative to the cropping image.

Has anybody else seen this behavior? Perhaps resolved it?

I’d be glad to include a screenshot if needed.

    Thanks!

  • I have had the same problem from WPMU 2.7.1, Buddy Press 1.0, all the way up tp WPMU 2.8.4 and BuddyPress 1.0.3. It’s driving me crazy and I can’t figure out why this is happening. It’s difficult to crop user avatar and impossible for groups to crop avatars.

i have this issue on my newest DarkPress 2 theme: http://www.buddydress.com/2009/08/darkpress-2-now-compatible-with-firefox-3-5/

the cropping works fine with IE, but it sucks with Firefox.

Same here, the crop tool doesn’t appear for the first thumb.

    Wp Mu 2.8.4

    BuddyPress Version 1.0.3

    Firefox3.5.2

    Default budypress community theme

    Worked fine with Bp 1.02

    Seems cropper.css isn’t loaded

The cropper has been totally re-written in 1.1 and these problems no longer exist.

    I’ll confirm what Andy said.

From my tests the new cropper tool in BP1.1 is better in about every imaginable way.
