Avatar image quality after cropping

Howdy,

I noticed that the image quality of avatars decreases visibly after cropping the desired image, it’s often very unsharp. Is there a way to improve the quality?

Upload a larger image and crop from there.

Thank you for your reply but a larger image doesn’t solve the problem. The final image has a worse quality than the preview image. I reported this on trac.buddypress.org.
