bad avatar upload url

the change-avatar.php page is functioning properly,

but upon save it’s kickin out a sour url in this form

    ../site-directory/File%20“wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/avatars/1/photo.jpg”%20is%20not%20an%20image.

i don’t see an error statement that matches the “%is%not..” output in the url

I diff’ed the bp-core-avatars.php file against a fresh one just to make sure I didn’t slip a keystroke in there. possibilities: file permissions?, no avatars directory exist in blog.dir/1/, I got rid of /blog in the $permalink_structure for MU?, all other .htaccess rules are working, other photo uploads working. I had noticed that options-misc.php no longer exist in 2.8.2, but in options.php no $upload_url_path is set?

    anyone seen this happen?

    I’d look into three things:

    1. Check to make sure that the permissions on blogs.dir are correct
    2. Disable all non-BP plugins (one at a time) and see if that makes a difference. Some people have reported that certain plugins can change the permissions on blogs.dir.
    3. However my guess, and it is just that, is that it is an issue with your GD module not finding the libjpeg library. Someone else reported a similar issue and that is what it turned out to be. Information on patching libjpeg can be found here: http://cblfs.cross-lfs.org/index.php/Libjpeg

I think you got it Jeff, I spent hours fighting it last night. it’s not permissions, no plugins.. I also suspect the GD – libjpeg config… don’t have root/shell access to this particular server right now, but I’ll let ya’ll know if it turns up to be anything different.
