bbpress issues

  • I’m sorry if this has been addressed before. I’ve searched for this problem for quite some time and found nothing.

I used the quick one-click install to use the internal bbpress that comes packaged with BP. But now, however, I’d like to use a traditional bbpress install. So, I deactivated the internal BP bbpress, downloaded the current bbpress, uploaded it to my host. Instead of getting the bbpress config when I navigate to the URL, it redirects me to the buddypress directory containing bbpress. Somehow there is some sort of residue effect going on.

How can I completely get rid of the problem so I can install a fresh, new, independent bbpress to use on my site?

  • I wanted to update this post. Apparently, even if I disable Buddypress, it won’t recognize a new bbpress directory in the site root. It’s still loading the Buddypress bbpress. If anybody has some insight, I’d really appreciate it. I really don’t want to have to wipe everything and start over.
