Big Upgrade (1.1.1 to 1.7.2)

    Hey All;

    Let me preface by saying I am new to Buddypress. I have been asked to upgrade an old 1.1.1 install of BuddyPress to 1.7.2. I have been successful for the most part, but I am having one issue that I can’t seem to resolve.

    I am running WordPress 3.5.1 and I have BuddyPress 1.7.2 installed.

    I am running WordPress inside of a subdirectory on a domain (although my test environment is a subdomain)

    Everything worked fine prior to the upgrade and I have no BuddyPress plugins outside the core install.

    I am using a customized theme and nothing in core has been modified in any way.

    My test environment is Linux. The production server is Windows. This isn’t something I am able to change.

    I can answer the other questions, but I am not sure if they are relevant.

    Prior to the upgade, I had the main site at:

    http://www.domain.com/wordpress

    The blog lives at:

    http://www.domain.com/wordpress/blog

    During the v1.1.1 days, the /wordpress/blog path worked fine. After the upgrade to 1.7.2, it is broken. It gives me a “page not found” error. I have everything else about BuddyPress working. If I go to specific posts in my blog (/wordpress/blog/10/20/2013/blah-title) they work fine, it is the main page/most recent post that does not work.

    Be gentle with me as I am new and I apologize if I am re-asking a previously answered question (I did a search but didn’t find anything). I appreciate your help.

    Thanks;
    Michael

    @mbagnall what page template are you using for the Blog page? Or are you using the default?

    I am using a custom theme that is a sub-theme of the default. I hope I said that right 🙂

    Hey Folks;

    Just bumping this back to the top. If anyone could assist, it would be help greatly. I’m bashing my head against he wall at this point. I could even give ftp access to the dev space and specifics if someone wanted to take a look – just really need to figure out what is going on post upgrade here.

    I created a page in the /blog path and now it goes to that page which is empty. There is no place to assign /blog to a page like there are in other buddypress instances. Perhaps since it’s a stock WordPress blog…. I’m grasping at straws pretty bad here.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks;
    Michael

    since you did not mention having a multisite installation, I will assume that you created a static front page named “home” or whatever, created a new blank Page named “Blog” for your blog posts and went to Settings > Reading to designate the “home” page for you home page and “Blog” for your blog pages. That’s the scenario where I can see you have /blog/ in the url of your blog posts. Check your Settings > Reading to make sure that the pages selected in Static Front page and blog posts are still the same.
