Bit of help needed after reversing forum posts order.

    @rossagrant

    Hi guys,
    I have just patched my forums so that the topic reply box is at the top of the page and that the forums are in reverse order so that the latest post appears at the top of the first page. I think this makes for far easier browsing and a more intuitive interface.

    I have 2 tewaks that need doing.

    Firstly as the latest topic is now the first on the page BP still applies the permanent link to topic WITHOUT the edit/ delete options on it (as if it were still the first post of the topic). I need this reversing so people can edit the latest reply.

    Secondly the page reloads at the bottom on each posting of a reply. This is where the reply would normally be but it is now at the top. I need to change this so that after posting, the page refreshes at the top.

    I want to say a MASSIVE thanks to Paul Gibbs for helping me with this mod. If anyone else wants the code then let me know!

    I have sorted the loading issue but I still have the issue where there is just the hash on the latest post without an edit/ delete option. This is because BP still thinks it is the oldest post, i.e. the topic description which would normally be at the top of the page. Now I have reversed the order of posts it is actually the LATEST post at the top. I need the edit/ delete options on it.

    Any ideas?

    where bp_the_topic_post_admin_links is echo’d?

    have a look in function bp_get_the_topic_post_admin_links( $args = ” ) { (bp-forums-templatetags.php)

    @chrismackintosh No problem mate, we are just doing some updates in BP 1.2.4.1 as the new release broke the reversal of admin links but when it’s done I’ll send you over the topic.php and templatetags.php files if you like, pre edited.

    Paul Gibbs is kindly working on this for me but he’s rushed off his feet. Hoping we’ll have it done by Friday.

    For now, take a look at this trac for the gist of it but there are a couple of other tweaks needed.

    @djpaul can this trackticket patch be used in 1.2.5.2 or 1.2.6 (upcoming) or does it break something? I would love to have this reversed as well…

    Polite BUMP.. can somebody answer the question that I posted about the patch that is completed and now pushed back to 1.3 and using it in 1.2.6 with regard to reversing the forum topic order…

    @rossagrant

    @pisanojm it works flawlessly, you will also need to tinker with the admin links to reverse their order too. Give me your email address and I’ll send you the edited file for the latest version of BP.
