@hemantsaraf What theme were you using? What plugins were activated at the time you deleted BP 1.6.4? Could be an old plugin which requires BP.
I was using the standard BP theme… that comes with the install… I was working on all default settings… hope this helps…
Let me re-create the scenario for the third time and provide you more details… here are the list of plugins and their versions…
BuddyPress 1.6.4 Activated
Collabpress 1.2.3. Activated
BuddyPress Default Theme 1.6.4 Activated
This time I tried something new… I simply deactivated the plugin… and opened the front-end. Got the white screen again. Without even deleting the plugin.
But when I re-Activated the plugin and refresed the page… the website came back again….
Now a 3 out of 3 times success rrate.
Hope this helps..
May be I got the answer as well… I was trying to delete the plugin without catering for the alternate theme… so may be the default them got deleted as well… and the next theme did not kick in. This I noticed when I deliberately enabled the twenty-eleven theme, the website cam back as normal again… Thanks for your prompt response… Your question,” What Theme?” set me thinking in this direction… and I learned something new… thanks much !!!
There is an issue if you deactivate the plugin but then don’t deal with the theme, you need to visit the theme page – iirc that ought to be all that’s required as the bp theme is no longer available so WP will default to one of it’s own.
BP does have provision for trying to deal with theme switching and it was looked into and revised on a ticket last year but it’s a tricky aspect as that’s running from functions.php in the default BP theme.
