BP Forums and LaTeX (using MathJax and JsMath)

In the past I used JsMath to produce LaTeX on my site (http://physicsgrad.com) and have recently switched to the highly similar but preferable, MathJax. In both cases, the JS script performs fantastically in all components of the buddypress plugin with the one exception being the forums, which strips apart my LaTeX commands, for example something like $nabla cdot vec{B} = 0$. An example can be found here:

I’m not sure how to fix this and find it strange that this is the only instance in which the script fails. Does the forum component of bp do some kind of special formatting to forum text that isn’t applied anywhere else?

I just noticed that the forums on my site and on BuddyPress.org is stripping backslashes from all of my text. In the example latex code I typed, there should be a backslash attached to “nabla”, “cdot” and “vec{B}”. Why does it do this and is there any way to stop it?

Hey @taylor – Did you ever fix this?
