BP Member's Profile in Theme issue

I created a child theme for the ‘front’ of my web site and wanted to use buddypress for a members profile. Problem I am having is that when I got to the members page its in the theme but won’t change templates. If there a way to override it so I can put it into a new template?

@wkolcz You created a child theme of what parent theme? Have you checked out https://codex.buddypress.org/themes/theme-compatibility-1-7/a-quick-look-at-1-7-theme-compatibility/ ?
