@Bowromir have you tried the theme with most of the popular buddypress plugins to see that the plugin works well with them? I’ve had a few awesome themes that strangely didn’t work well with BP. The video demo seems to show you’re quite comfy with BP so that’s a great sign.
@PJnu: Yep so far I’ve tried a bunch of popular plugins and they work and look fine! BP-Slick is a Child Theme of the standard Theme and inherits a lot of it’s templates. The templates I’ve added are build with the same classes and template structure so this means that all plugins which are developed for BP-Default (I think all plugins are) are working fine.
Plugins that are really extensive (BP-Media, CourseWare etc) might require some additional styling, but these modifications can be shared in the support group. Everyone who has bought the plugin can upload/download new templates, styles and tweaks for the Theme. So if something does not behave as expected, chances are that me (or someone else) has fixed it and has put it up for grabs in the “goodies” section of the support group!
@Bowe: Does your theme has the possabillity for translation in a .po file? Its pretty important for me to have the site in Swedish….
@skolbloggense: BP-Slick uses the same BuddyPress translation strings so the theme should just work fine with your Translation. The only thing that is not yet translated is the menu navigation. But that can all be found in one file, which is organized and very easy to edit. I think it will take you about 10 mins to translate it!
I will add po/mo files to the theme pretty soon (to make upgrading easier, so you won’t lose changes) but right now it’s yet added The Theme is now for sale btw.. It can be purchased with 20% discount until the end of the week: http://bp-tricks.com/purchase-bp-slick/.
Here’s the sales page with it’s features: http://bp-tricks.com/pre-order-bp-slick/. And a short video on how to get it running: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMb7tXXV6Rw&feature=player_embedded
Hi guys,
I would like to let everyone know that the demo is now available here: http://bp-tricks.com/demo/
If you have any pre-sale questions you can ask them here: http://bp-tricks.com/themes/pre-sales-questions/forum/,
It’s what they call a soft launch, the actual Tips and Tricks community is launching as soon as possible You can start submitting your Tricks if you want on http://bp-tricks.com/submit-a-trick.
That’s it for now
Your demo does not inspire me.Im hoping your theme does more than you are showing me. Is anyone using this theme ? Can you give links to your sites so I can see what they are like. Also, are future upgrades free ?
Glen that’s a little rude
I’m setting up the theme right now. Will share links soon. So far, it’s been fairly user-friendly.
@whitbyglennk the demo version right now is a free ‘minimal’ version. BP Slick is a paid for upgrade and trust me, will blow you away with functionality, especially if you use S2 member for your subscriptions.
@rossagrant would like to see a base-demo of the pro theme… I’m currently looking at some of the themes from WPMUdev.org as well….
Hope you dont think Im rude, Im just saying what I see. No point in lieing. I am looking for a god quality premium theme. However, when I look at the demo on the site I am thinking this is not much of an improvement on the default buddypress theme, A few changes of colour, text and images, but nothing substantial.
If I was trying to sell a premium theme I would make the demo show that theme and have plenty of data on the site to illustrate how the theme looks right across the board. The current demo wont sell anything.
I am certainly interested in seeing what people make with the theme and if it looks good I would buy it. I am also looking at the wpmudev themes in particular blogsmu which I really like, but I refuse to pay for upgrades, I dont mind paying a one off fee upto $100 but upgrades must be free.
There are ways of saying things and there are ways of saying things Glen
TBH I’m not sure these sorts of discussions should be directed to and made on the site in question though, is there not a forum/group where one can ask questions of the author/s in advance of possible use?
@win – any luck setting it up? Would love to see the theme in action. The demo version is too minimal for me to get a good grasp. Thanks!
@pisanojm hey guys. http://www.bp-tricks.com is actually set up on the BP-Slick theme if you want to check it out. Bowe owns the site which is in the middle of a relaunch and BP Slick is his baby!
I agree with @hnla.. I’ve made a pretty nice pre-sales forum here: http://bp-tricks.com/themes/pre-sales-questions/forum/
I would gladly explain more about the features and tell you more.
@whitbyglennk: the demo you saw was from BP-Minimal, a FREE theme to be released soon. BP-Slick is a different Premium Theme and a feature overview can be viewed here: http://bp-tricks.com/purchase-bp-slick/. I can safely say that it’s the most feature rich premium BuddyPress theme too date, but you have to decide for yourself if you think it’s worth it. If you have any questions just let me know ok ? Also upgrades are indeed free and new styles and color variations can be submitted by the community in the support group. There will also be templates for popular 3rd Party Plugins. I do not believe in monthly subscriptions and the theme will be upgrade free for as long as BuddyPress keeps using the Parent-Child Theme structure (which will be forever I presume)
@Pisanojm: Check out BP-Tricks.com which runs on BP-Slick and check out the demo http://bp-tricks.com/demo and select the “BP-Slick Theme” in the sidebar to view the demo!
