Deactivate BuddyPress and BP plugins, change to default twenty ten theme and run Settings > Permalinks and choose option other than default permalinks.
I have done all that. I did not have any luck
I `ve set it on my localhost successfully I fallowed same steps .
it may be something to do my hosting,
i dont know ,any more suggestions
few more thing i have been trying
When i create activity , members , groups pages from dashboard they work even i created register page takes me to Create an Account form where i can create an account and receive an email to activate my account which does not work
when i click Create an Account link on the side bar it does not work
i dont know what i am doing wrong
now i have 2 of each link on the nav

Do not create Pages named activity, members, etc from dashboard. Delete the activity, groups, members, etc. you created as BuddyPress creates those pages on its own, that’s why you see two of each link.
