buddy press forum plugin
I need to install buddypress forum plugin in my subdomain http://1web.co/masjid2.
I am using wordpress 3.5.1 and buddypress forum plugin version is 1.7.2. After installation how to proceed with the plugin to create the forum in the page ? Please help me to sort out this problem
I am assuming you are talking about bbpress forums since BuddyPress no longer comes packaged with bbpress as of BP 1.7 This should help explain how to set it up.
Yes, I installed the plugin from this site. https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress/
Some pages are created after completed the settings, those pages are
Out of this, the register page is blank. I dont have idea, which page we can display in the site or anything else is pending
Whether i need to install bbpress also? Whether the buddypress forum plugin wont work with wordpress ?
please help me
expecting your reply
You need to go to dashboard/settings/general and check the box anyone can register.
ok. I will do that. But in the site for the forum which page i need to display ?
The link I supplied above explains the creation of the page. You may also want to add that page to a custom menu:
As far as I know there is no plugin named BuddyPress Forum Plugin. As stated above I am assuming your referring to bbpress so use the links I have supplied and it should help you out.
Yes there is a plugin. Please check this link https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress/
Also from the link which you send now, I followed the same and i got 3 tabs, components, pages and settings. I didnt got any forum tab.
Also after installation the pages which i got is
I didnt got any forum page as shown in the screenshot from the link which you send
Please let me know whether i missed any step.
Also please forward me the exact link to download and install the plugin which has all the features
Something is getting lost in the translation here. I know there is a BuddyPress plugin hence we are in the BuddyPress support forums but you keep mentioning a “BuddyPress Forum Plugin.” If you want forums then you will need to install bbpress and use the links I supplied. You can get bbpress here:
BuddyPress just adds the social networking side of things like activity stream, members directories, extended profiles, adding friends, private messaging etc. If you need to have a forum you will need bbpress. Please do not take this offensively but you need to have a clear understanding of what BuddyPress is and what bbpress is because as stated before as of BuuddyPress 1.7 you will need to install bbpress which is a seperate plugin if forums is a requirement for your project. Have a look in the codex documentation to get a better understanding. Do a google search for BuddyPress and another for bbpress.
so if I install only bbpress, is that enough to create a forum ?
or something else i need to do ?
Even after you install bbpress you will still need to configure it depending on if you plan on using group forums, sitewide forums, or both. Use this link which I had provided previously to get an idea of setting them up:
After you get it set up you may still want to add the forums link to your navigation. The link has already been provided above. Please ready this material, it explains it much more clearly!
ok Thanks for your time. I will do these steps today evening and will let you know.
Sorry for disturbing you a lot
I am here to help. I just hope I have given you a little more insight that will help you get the results you require. Have a good day!
Thank you so much
I will let you know by today.
Hi, I have installed the forum. 1 more doubt. i.e. How can a user login or register?
How to try as a new user ?
You need to go to dashboard/settings/general and click anyone can register. Then you can create a new test account and in either a different browser or chromes incognito window go to the site and log in with the test account credentials.
thats ok. If i give anyone can register, from where they will register?
How to setup that page ?
@shameermohamed50 the Codex is your friend, do have a read of some of the guides there as they will answer a certain amount of your questions in setting up BP and bbP
Hi, I just want to know how to make the user to register to create topics thats all
please send me the steps for that
hey i already read the codex, there is nothing mentioned about how to provide regstration
please help me
I already briefly touched on how to allow users to register, and how to make a test account.
If you can’t find what you need in the codex, then search google, or maybe even youtube for a tutorial if you need visual instruction.
