buddybpress 1.7 and old theme structure

  • kuching

    I’m a user of buddypress since 1.4.x
I needed to integrate Buddypress inside a custom WP theme. I did use at the time BP Theme Compatibility, copied the template files into my theme and edited those to fit my main WP theme.

I’ve understood that 1.7 will change the way it handles themes. This will make it easier for people who wish to embed buddypress inside their existing blogs. But how about users like me that already have a custom theme meant for buddypress 1.6.x? Will my template structure remain valid? Is anything going to be deprecated? Should I take some action or review my template?

And how about for people going to build themes for Buddypress? Before they could use the template files as a starting point. If these disappear from Buddypress what should be used instead?

    thank you
