It may be due to a javascript conflict with your theme or some other plugin.
To check if it’s your theme, try switching momentarily to a WP theme like 2015 and see if the issue persists.

Switched to 2015 and the comment button works.
Is there a workaround or do I need to have this fixed by my theme author?

Hello,
I have WordPress 4.7.2 and I’m running the most current Salient theme.
I have installed Woocommerce, WCVendors and BuddyPress.
For some reason the comment button in the activity feed is not working. When clicked, it just spins for a while and then reloads the page.
Any ideas why?
