Buddypress for businesses interacting w/ clients who don’t like email. BP+CRM?

I’m considering piloting a Buddypress install for a small business owner who is looking to increase customer relation management but promoting a more social interaction with his clients. Emails are great, but for certain clients, the communication on BP definitely beats email tag.
Has anyone used (or heard of) BP being used by small businesses to interact with clients? Are small businesses comfortable with using the BP platform to communicate with their consulting company? What are your thoughts on this.
Also, if there are companies that are already doing this, please share a link. I’d be interested to see how they’re using BP to make communication easier. Thank you.
