BuddyPress Group Documents

  • When I try to activate BuddyPress Group Documents, I get:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or ‘}’ in /home/jbusch/public_html/ on line 4

I investigated this issue elsewhere and they said that the issue is that I need to be using PHP5. But when I go into cPanel and change to PHP5 for PHP Configuration, I get:

    Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    Apache/2.2.14 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.14 OpenSSL/0.9.8e-fips-rhel5 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/ PHP/4.4.9 mod_fastcgi/2.4.6 Phusion_Passenger/2.2.5 Server at Port 80

    Any ideas?

I think you should contact your webhost and ask why you receive an internal server error when you configure your server to use php5.. This is more something you should try to solve with your host, and not something plugin or BuddyPress related :)

Thanks – I assumed as much and have taken it up over at my webhost, was just checking to see if this was a common issue.

Thanks for your response – I’ll post an update if things get worked out.

As Bowe mentioned, it was a webhost issue and not related to plugin/buddypress. Turned out I needed to switch to PHP 5 and to get that to work, I needed to change all files and folders to be 644 and 755 (respectively), rather than 777.

Here’s another annoying bug we found.

When we upload a document, it works fine. BUT, there seem to be no way of removing a document.

    Any documentation available on this?
