[Resolved] Buddypress privacy and multisite issue

    Hi,
I am using a plugin for a feature I am really hoping makes it to buddypress core someday, and apologize if it’s already there and if I am adding unnecessary complexity.
I have buddypress on the child site of a multisite, and I am concerned about my member’s privacy and peace so I want to make sure their posts or only visible to their friends, group members, themselves or even the whole world, at their discretion. It is similar to Facebook privacy options.
The plugin I have used for this in the past is “Buddypress Activity Privacy”. It even lets me set the default to friends only.
The problem I am having is that it seems only to network activate on a multisite, and if I network activate buddypress, it defaults to my main blog which is not the buddypress site. My main site is for business matters and personal things people don’t want on the “social network” side at all, and has member and business plugins I don’t want to interfere with buddypress either.
Are these features part of buddypress somehow and I missed them and am using a plugin unnecessarily? If so, would you please point me to the right doc starting point to enable these user activity privacy options?
If it requires a plugin, this is the only one I found so far, BuddyPress Activity Privacy, but am having troubles activating it since it needs to network activate and it can’t if buddypress is not network activated, apparently.
One more question please. If I do network activate buddypress, and it’s really only for one site of the multisite network, will it have negative performance impacts on the other sites? If it will hurt performance to network activate it, I would still consider it if I could point it to the right blog, I’m just wondering what’s the best thing to do to maintain these user privacy options. Thank you for reading and considering this.

    Hi,
Got this resolved. Was able to assign buddypress to the right site after network activating. Intuitively, at first, it seemed like I either needed to activate it on a specific site, or if I network activated it, it would be on root. I was able to define the site I wanted it on, network activate it then network activate the privacy plugin that needed to be network activated. I do hope buddypress integrates more privacy options into core, especially in this day in age people will want this kind of control, but this works and thank you! 🙂

    Changing Internal Configuration Settings

    Cheers!
