BuddyPress Roles and Capabilities

    Hi

I can’t seem to find a way or plugin that will allow me to do what I think should be standard roles and capability options. My minimum requirement at this stage would be

1 Group Mods or Group admins can delete and edit any post in their group only.
2 Group members can only post and read and not edit or delete.

Why? This is a multi-school (group) project that wants all editorial permissions available to the Group mods or admin ONLY and not the kids. The content is moderated and the kids have no requirement to edit or delete

Thanks. Any info gratefully received 🙂

    Danny

BuddyPress doesn’t currently user WordPress’ roles/capabilities systems. I haven’t looked at the code in while, but I’m pretty sure it’s going to be challenging to either add a new “role” or change the behaviours that are currently assigned to Group Mods/Admins/Members.

It’s probably something relatively niche so I’d be pleasantly surprised if someone comes along with a readymade solution. I think you/someone is going to have to dive into the code and see what’s possible.

Appreciate that. Do you think I could hook onto a custom field and create a conditional filter across the functional elements. e.g. if custom group admin field true filter edit control true else false

Are you talking about changing the group activity stream or the group forums?

The activity stream. The concept is to have a role ( group admin or group moderator) that is the sole control of editing or deleting an activity for that group they are in control of. Other than administrator(s) to have control of every school activity stream

The project is for school kids moderated by their own school (group) admin. That admin should only have permissions to edit or delete the activity of the particular group and not other group ( schools). The school kids should not be able to edit or delete their own activity

    Thank for any help

    Danny

I suggest to create child theme. It will be much more faster to add those functionalities.
