  • @oldrow

I am on a shared server plan on lunarpages. I run 2 wordpress blogs on it and one has buddypress. Ever since I added the second instance of WordPress my site crawls EXTREMELY slow.

Please help me speed it back up!

BuddyPress is not good on $5 hosting accounts.

    is bbpress a better alternative?

Also, will facebook connect work for bbpress just like it does for buddypress?

I should have said multiple WordPress sites are not good on $5 hosting. BBPress is changing to a WordPress Plugin and would probably not require as much resources. FaceBook connect creates WordPress users. Users can use BuddyPress or Next version of BBPress from WordPress user accounts.

When will that update happen? I like self hosting so I can use advertisements (wordpress hosting doesn’t let you do this)

@oldrow – With hosting, a lot of times you get what you pay for. I don’t have experience with Lunar Pages, but I do know that if you want to control how fast your site loads, you need either a better shared hosting environment or a VPS or better.

If you want to stick with cheap hosts, you might try another one. For example, I have had decent luck with Hostgator.
