Bug? Blogs Directory is not updating by "Last Active" on 3 different installs

    Hey guys,

I don’t think the “last active” feature is working in the blogs directory any more.

Go to http://testbp.org/blogs/ and search on “3sixty” to see my two test blogs. I put in some helpful comments to show that the last active post isn’t bumping up my blog in the last active list.

I also had the same problem on two installs on my domain. One was my working BP directory, and one was a plain vanilla install

Please do me a favor and test your own Blogs Directory in the Default THeme if possible. Is the “last active” setting working? Post your results here. Thanks!

Yup. One of our users just alerted us to this problem. We have the exact same problem here: http://jibenow.com

Basically after the update to the latest version of BP it’s only updating the list for brand new blogs. So my hunch is that it’s somewhere in the core. Does this mean that it’s also happening to every BP install out there running the latest version of BP?

It’s on the radar for the next release:

    This is fixed in 1.2.3.

Shouldn’t the directory be updated after commenting?

My recollection is that “Last Active” Blogs are defined as those that have the most recent POSTS… not most recent COMMENTS.

It would be a cool option (someday) to select on the back end how you want the Blog Directory to display (“display by last active (X) post / ( ) comment”). For now it would probably be easy for someone who knows BP to write a custom filter that lists blogs according to most recently commented upon.

That said, you can get an Activity Stream listing of latest blog comments. If you are using the bp-default theme, it’s in the pulldown menu under “Show Blog Comments”, if that helps?

The blogs are also updated when you edit a post without changing the date. So it’s not really what you want. ;) The bloggers can easily cheat to push the blogs to the top.

And I thought that in the past the directory was also updated after commenting and much more but I could be wrong.
