I want to develop a community, i want to know if or how BuddyPress can hold up if it happens to grow almost very big.

of course i am using the latest WordPress 4.4,
i have not developed it yet. but this is my other website http://www.arize.work

Like WP, BuddyPress can scale to millions of users – IF – you provide the necessary server resources.
