Can not login to dashboard if wp-custom.php exists

This has been ok for a few years now can’t login (white screen) to wordpress dashboard. Hosting traced it to the wp-custom.php which included a number of customisations. But the only solution seems to be removing this file completely. An empty one causes the same issue. I am assuming this is caused by the latest update to buddypress.

Any help would be appreciated as I need some of the customisations.

    What is wp-custom.php ?
Did you mean bp-custom.php ? If so, the latest BP release loads bp-custom.php without issues.
Try turning on debugging and then check your error log for relevant info about your issue.

Sorry yes I meant bp-custom.php. And not in my case. The hosting company removed the file which they saw as a plugin as their logs showed it was the source of a php error. As a first step to finding the problem I restored a basic bp-custom.php file with no added custom code and the problem of a blank white screen on trying to login reappeared instantly. I removed the file, website login functionality returned to normal. I moved all custom code to theme and everything continued to work as intended?

Yours is the first report of such an error.
The cause can only be guessed at – unless you can share the exact fatal error which you can get by trying on debugging.
