Can’t change language & old members not showing up

  • advinci

I had a WordPress MU installation before adding BuddyPress to it, with users and blogs.

Translated .po and .mo files were made and put into wp-content/mu-plugins/bp-languages. WPMU was translated before installing BPress. In the Dashboard>Settings I changed the language to English and back to Estonian to make sure it turned the language on. Translated the templates too.

And whhile template changes work, most things aren’t translated, so it seems that .mo file isn’t working.

And another problem I have is that old members aren’t showing up in the members list. Only those who registered after installing BuddyPress are in the list.

I don’t know much about databases, but it seems to me like maybe the databases haven’t registered the changes and need some kind of refresh or something?

Please help, my site is live and has active users, which make it pretty urgent for me.

  • You could do nothing with your database now. Registered users should also register in BP. BP base is changing dinamically only after it starts working, so you can’t edit BP base by adding info from wp-users table of youк WPMU.

Users need to add profile data before they will show in any lists. This will change.

I’m not sure why it is not translation, do you have a link?

I got the language working. I changed the name of the WPMU language file from to to match BP’s language file which had the name Also changed it in wp-config. I’m not sure if BP’s language file had to have this name, but the German version was, so I made it like this.

So now it’s working but with minor problems. For example the plural format for time is wrong. It adds an s in the end of hours and minutes. But in Estonian there are different plural forms for different words… So I have no idea what to do with that.

The plural’s problem is quite well known as it was mentioned in the mailing list. So changes will be made certanly soon (I think and hope)! ;)
