cant create new topic (and) reply

    Hello there,

    I am having a HUGE problem with creating new topics and replies for standart users (non-admins).

    There is a group I created and noone besides admin is able to post a single message there. It displays this message;

    You cannot create new topics.

    Same as for “reply”!!

    I disabled all the plug ins and I see that if I disabled “BuddyPress” plug in, I can create a new topic from going to the Forum section. So, the problem is with BuddyPress and for the love of God, please help me! I’m more than willing to give one of you my admin role to solve/fix this issue. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.

    My website is; http://www.inviteshare.net

    And just one example of the problem is on this page:

    http://inviteshare.net/groups/introducing-yourself/forum

    Noone is able to post anything but me :.(

    @wolfied Could be theme or plugin conflict. Change to Twenty Twelve theme and check.

    Just did. I switched to Twenty Twelve and deactivated all the plug-ins but BBPress and BuddyPress.

    “You cannot create new topics.”

    No chance. Unless I join the Group, I can’t post anything.

    @wolfied You need to update your theme. I just noticed you’re still using jQuery 1.7.1 in source view while the theme’s demo rightly shows jQuery 1.10.2

    It looks like jquery is updated succesfully.
    jquery.jsver=1.10.2

    Still having the same problem. Nothing is fixed yet. I can’t post anything at all.

    Would you like to be granted an admin status to check the codes yourself ? I would be pleased if you give me a hand for this.

    Without joining a group,can you post under that group on BuddyPress ? Is there any chance of it ??

    Hi!

    Are you using the short codes for bbPress to insert the forms to write a new topic? I noticed recently that my forums page didn’t let non-admins post a new topic (I was using the short code [bbp-topic-form] ) but gave them the message “You can’t post new topics”.

    The issue was that my permalink was forum and the page with the shortcodes had the same URL. It seems to be a conflict between the short codes and that setting. I’ve written my solution in the bbPress trac, don’t have the URL here unfortunately.

    In fact, my problem turned out to be resolved with one simple answer which needs to be answered by any of you.

    Without joining a group,can you post under that group on BuddyPress ? Is there any chance of it ?

    Anything under the “groups” i.e. http://inviteshare.net/groups/youtube-favs/forum/ needs a joined member to post. Otherwise, it doesnt let the members. After joining that group, users can post. Does that work the same for anyone ?

    If a group is public, you can post, but it’ll also automatically join the user to that group when they make that post. I don’t think there’s a way of mixing group permissions with posting permissions.

    What type of group did you make? Public, private, hidden?

    @wolfied

    The group is public but the non-admin users are forced to join the group to post. Is there anyway to check this out on any files?

    @wolfied deactivate the Ajax Search Pro plugin and check if you can create new topic and reply. jQuery 1.7.1 was not coming from theme but from that plugin, sorry missed that in initial scan.

    @mercime, still not working. I not only deactivated the Ajax Search Pro plug-in, but also deleted the whole plug-in.

    I really need help on this issue. Please keep on guiding me. That’s a serious problem for my site. Don’t take it wrong but, I can also give you admin status on my web page so that you yourself can see the codes/plug-ins yourself. I dont really know what’s missing. I hope you guys can find a solution to this.

    I do admire the work you guys are doing by updating this BuddyPress but for the love of God, can you guys solve this issue in the next update?? It’s so annoying to ask each of the members to join a group for posting. Can anyone please help??

    Unfortunately the “Cannot create new topic” bug is still present if you are not an Admin and are using the short code
    [bbp-forum-form]
    in the forum root

    🙁

    Yes Palmdoc,

    I’m waiting patiently for the buddypress staff to fix this problem. They are updating the buddypress but noone is touching this issue which is a very boring situation. I wonder when they will enable us to create a new topic WITHOUT joining the topic.
