can’t reinstall buddypress after uninstalling it

I committed a crime: I attempted to edit a buddypress php file. (I rewrote the message that appears at the top of the registration page.) After that, certain features weren’t working right. So I decided to start over with a clean new installation of the plugin. I deactivated and then uninstalled buddypress. Then I attempted to install buddypress again, but I got this error code:

    Could not copy file. buddypress/favicon.ico

What do I do? Thank you for your help.

Yikes! I decided to clear my cache on the website: installed and used “clear my cache” plugin. Then tried reinstalling buddypress, and now I have a new error message:

Installation failed: Could not copy file. buddypress/bp-xprofile/classes/class-bp-xprofile-field-type-textbox.php

    Help!

Are you able to check in your plugins directory to make sure the BuddyPress directory has been deleted?

Hi Venutius. Do you mean I should check within File Manager in my C-Panel?

Yes, I’m wondering if it’s getting deleted properly.

Another thing, last time I had something like this I’d hit a limit from my hosting provider, but it was affecting all plugins I was trying to install. Still it’s something to look at since ovbiously WordPress is struggling to create the file.

Brilliant! Indeed BuddyPress was not fully deleted from my files, when I checked via C-Panel File Manager. AND – yes, I’d hit a limit on my resources with my hosting provider. So I increased my resources allotment, and I removed all BuddyPress files and started over. All seems OK now! Thanks so much.
