BuddyPress.org

I’m just returning to Buddypress and I can’t get a handle on the new theme. I’m using the latest version of BP and WP (multi-site) and the default BP theme but on my homepage it seems the only content I can get in the main area (excluding sidebar) is the latest blog posts for the main site blog. I’m guessing this can’t be right but for the life of me I can’t see how this content can be altered. Are there no widget options for the main homepage content anymore? How can I add site-wide activity or site-wide blog posts to the main content area of my homepage?

Has the look and feel of the original BP theme gone forever? I really loved it, it was one of the reasons I went with BP ahead of others
