Can’t Upload images to groups

Hey, I’m new to BuddyPress. Is there anything that can be done if your theme isn’t compatible with buddypress? It said it was when i installed buddypress but I can’t upload avatars, cover photos for groups or profiles or group images. I am able to do all those with other themes (I tried it out)…. 🙁 but I really like the theme I’m using.
I’m using Buddypress 2.9.1 WordPress 4.8.2 and the theme SuperMag.
