Categories as a group forum/category

    Hi,

    I have BBpress forum installed and I have a few groups with their own forums set up. What I would like to do which doesnt seem possible from the WP admin panel is set a ‘Category’ for a group instead of a forum.

    Each group has its own set of forums but I dont want users to be able to post into the first level of forums. so far I have:-

    Group forum title – I want this to be a category, not a forum. The rest can be forums
    Forum 1
    Forum 2
    Forum 3

    I have noticed in the Groups Administration area any categories are greyed out when I try and select them. Is there a way to change this? Is there something that I can put into the bp-custom.php file I have created to do this?

    is Forum 1 a category or a forum?

    Forums 1, 2 and 3 are all forums. I have them as children of ‘forum category’. Im wanting to select ‘forum category’ for the groups themselves.

    The only reason i have for this really is there are a few groups already with their own forums and eventually there will be a lot more. Im trying to keep the forums tidy before they get too large.

    Make main forum category..you can nest sub categories under it and sub categories can have forums

    wanting to select ‘forum category’ for the groups themselves…

    Above is not possible…. Group forums nest under BP group forum only…I meant the forum defined in the setting in forums

    This is what i was beginning to think.

    I understand adding them in categories and forums. Its selecting the Category for the group i need to do. Oh well, hopefully this will be possible in later versions of BuddyPress.
