Change Avatar in BuddyPress.org

I have trying to change my avatar in BuddyPress.org but it keeps getting the error message.

    Profile > Change Avatar > Browse... > C:/Path/Desktop/myavatar.jpg > Upload Image

    And I get an error:

Upload Failed! Error was: Unable to create directory /home/buddypress/public_html/wpmu/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/avatars/6763074. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

My myavatar.jpg is 15K file size.

How could I change my avatar?

make sure the folder avatars is writable. You do that via an FTP program or your hosts admin.

Sorry. I mean buddypress.org, not my site. Thanks!

oh, create a gravatar for the email you use on this site

After I put my email in Gravatar, it said I have to put “Username will be permanent, choose wisely.”

I’m not ready to use Gravatar. Why can’t I just change avatar without Gravatar?

It’s a server thing with the way the *press.org sites are hosted; don’t ask me the specifics as I have no idea!

If you really need to show an avatar, then follow what modemlooper said.

Thanks r-a-y. I’m going to do the same as you do without Gravatar.
