Changing blog last active field

I am using buddypress along with the redirection plugin to allow my users to have their external blogs linked on to the ‘blogs’ area. Unfortunately because the site just redirects when they post something new on their externa; blog the ‘last active’ area doesn’t update to suit.
The solution I came up with is to let the blogs show when the administrator was last active instead of when the blog itself was last active. How could that be done? (any other ideas of how to make the last active thing be updated with the external blogs are welcome)
