Changing filtering default in activity stream

In activity stream, we can filter the content using a drop down menu. We can choose ‘Everything’, ‘Updates’, ‘Posts,’ etc.
Does anyone know how we can define a default filtering for different sub-items of the activity tab?
For instance, for ‘activity-personal’ we show only ‘Updates’. But for mentions we show ‘Replies’ etc.
