Choosing certain functionality

I’ve always been a big fan of buddypress, it’s been a great development.

I currently run a WPMU network without BuddyPress – I’d like to however have some of the buddypress functionality on one of the blogs only (ie not the whole network)

For example for that one blog, I’d like to be able to offer front end registrations – is this possible to do without activating BP across the entire network?

    Cheers – Sam

No but it’s a request that comes up every so often. It wouldn’t be too hard to create this, but I’m not sure anyone has put anything together like this yet.

A lot of this comes down to the theme and how you style the certain abilities of BuddyPress within that theme. You can also use the parent/child abilities to block different aspects of the blogs/sections of your site, which is typically what I’ve done in the past.

cheers for the reply mate – i’m trying a few different options at the minute for what I’m trying to put together

what i”m *really* trying to avoid is users registering at subblog but getting redirected to the main blog to do so. Not because it doesn’t work, but because it’s an inconviniece!

anyway, i’ll keep looking – as much as I want it to be, I’m not sure BP is the right solution at the minute

    cheers!
