Comments on attachments in Activity Feed

I feel this should be obvious but I want user comments on Media (the ‘attachment’ post type) to show in the Activity feed – can anyone point me in the right direction to do this please? I have selected the options in BuddyPress Activity Settings for Blog & Forum Comments to true, and have added;

add_post_type_support( 'attachment', 'buddypress-activity' );

to bp-custom.php amongst other attempts. Help much appreciated!

Very stuck on this still – I’m wondering if attachments are a special case as opposed to custom post types which would simply work?
