Community Menu bug

I am using a customised bp columns theme here and something like the community menu in this post.
    I have one problem….
When one clicks on the news page, which is the blog and it’s not on the sites home page, everything is higlighted as expected. When one clicks on an article the parent menu isn’t highlighted.

There is one class ‘current_page_parent’ but If I target that css then when any of the communty pages is being looked at the news page is also highlighted. The community menu being ‘selected’ doesn’t stop wordpress giving the news page the current_page_parent class. I can give the community menu that class but it then appears twice….

    Is there a solution?

If anyone wonders what a solution is…

I targetted .single-post and .page-item-40 (40 being the news page) css classes. Apparently this is an old wordpress bug which still exists in wp 3.1rc4….
