complete beginner question: changing the appearance of my site

    @amanor

    I am using the BuddyPress default theme. I want to create a first page for my site with a log-in field, a couple of tabs (eg “about” etc) and a media image. I also want to create additional pages that have or omit widgets etc according to the functionality of the page.

    I have searched for tutorials that describe precisely how to change the appearance of your pages, but I can only find tutorials describing how to create groups, etc.

    Do I change these pages in the css? Or in the html code for each page? How do I do that? What I really need is a tutorial that describes how to do these things. Has anyone found such a tutorial?

    Thanks in advance for your help!

    It seems like I have to create a child theme in BP? Anyway, I am now following the codex tutorial for doing so.
