Connection with database lost? Activation key?

After updating Buddypress to 1.5 , I had problems with my header. This probably caused by a self-made theme.
For the short term I decided to restore the complete public_html dir.
A backup I made just before updating buddypress.The problem now is that, buddypress is asking for a activation-key and that the activities are not shown anymore.
It is no problem to login at the website
Anybody a suggestion?
