Consistency between WP comments and BP comments

With the default theme shipped with Buddypress 1.2 I noticed that comments on BP pages (Activity Stream, Members pages, Group Pages, etc) are pretty powerful and (obviously) support all the cool features in Buddypress, whereas comment con WordPress pages and posts are plain UGLY :)

I’d like to find a solution for this, since I plan on usign WP/BP full time and I want comments to be consistent between all the pages in the site. So there are two routes:

    1) Work on WP’s comments.php and try to hook all the features in BP

    2) Plug BP’s commenting system directly inside WP, except I can’t seem to find such thing…

Could you suggest me a direction or where to look at? At this point I think it would be much simpler to follow 1), but at some point BP should be bold enough and substitute WP’s commenting system with its much better own commenting system.

So, before putting this on trac and see how I can help, I’d like to hear from you!

    Thanks

If you’re talking about the AJAX comments thing on BP component pages, you can easily find a plugin for WP, look for “AJAX comments” or something along those lines in the WP plugin repository and you’ll find a bunch of matches.

I haven’t tested any of these plugins out though.

Well. I’d prefer not to use a third “commenting system” and reuse the one in BP :)

That’s probably not going to happen… there are too many variables to look for.

For one, different blog themes have different ids and classes.
