Well I see you have opened a ticket, yet when I visited to check out the work there’s no more than:

    CPT’s as :

    ‘Groups’

    ‘messages’

I sort of thought the ticket might have actually fleshed out a little more detail than that? maybe actually said why, what benefit, set out the initial basis for a discussion?

As for ‘proof of concept patches’ in the two months since that ticket was opened have you managed to get things rolling with an example patch we might look at?

As far as I was aware the general nature of BP components as CPT’s is already a matter for discussion, is there not a blog post by JJJ somewhere on the subject?

Fair point. I will try to flesh out the whys and wherefores.

As for contributing code, that’s my Achilles’ heel. If I was able to code, as opposed to being just an end-user, I would have put in a fair bit of work (e.g. I do at OpenCart http://www.opencart.com/index.php?route=extension/extension&filter_username=OC2PS as due to their vQmod system http://code.google.com/p/vqmod/ I can patch things up to my liking without a great deal of PHP or even programming knowledge)

I haven’t seen a post by @johnjamesjacoby on this yet. At the very least I haven’t seen any tags that say CPT, custom post types, or custom taxonomies.
