Creating blog-specific groups in a multi-site network

    Hello

I’m trying to solve a problem that involves using buddypress within a multi-site network. I’d like to have global profiles, but blog-specific groups.
    For example:

    nyc.example.com/group
    losangeles.example.com/group

I would like these to be different groups. I can mostly distinguish between groups thanks to the tagging feature (I can create two instances of the same group name and tag each with their respective city). The problem I’m having is with the resulting slug. Evidently, when two groups are created with the same name, the group’s id string is appended to the second one to differentiate it from the first.

I’m wondering what the best way might be to change the url structure of groups so that the rewrite rule uses the city subdomain to locate the appropriate group (within the group tags).

    Any advice is much appreciated.

    Thanks
