    @mathijs84

    Hi there,

New to buddypress so I hope this is the right place to post.

I’m building a website for a personal trainer.

He wants the following added to the site:

1: customers can log in to their (private!!) page
2: They have to be able to upload a progress picture every month
3: He must be able to add a document for them every month
4: they should be able to communicate with each other.
5: Interaction between customers is not necessary

can this be done with Buddypress?

Sidenote: I’m using a wordpress theme which supports Buddypress v 2.1.1

    Many thanks,

    Mathijs

    Hi @mathijs84,

removed resolved, was probably a mistake. 😉

    1) see codex for how to set BP and components
    2) don’t know exactly what you mean by this. Anyway, this isn’t included and has to be developed by you.
    3) BP doesn’t handle doc management. You have to use some specific plugin. Search in the bp plugins on WP repo. In your case i recommend Buddydrive.
    4) members are the heart of BP !
    5) see 1).

    Thanks danbp,

You think Buddypress is the right way to go ??

With point 2 i mean, that at the start of each month every user has to upload a new picture.
So this will be custom development i guess!

We are only going to use the member (wall)pages, kinda like a facebook wall. Is it possible to somehow get the elements like activity, photo’s, documents and messages on 1 page without the tabs?

    Anyone else maybe?

Yes you can create a single members page that exist at say the same level as standard WP pages and into that bring various elements from the user account to create a sort of single user landing page, doing this will depend on how comfortable with coding you are, as you are starting to get into the realms of custom work here.

BuddyPress certainly is a good fit for many sites along these sorts of lines, but out of the box it can only go so far and has to present a default setup that suits the majority, extending this to provide more custom requirements is possible, but you will need a certain level of skills – the codex is your friend though we have quite a few articles and guides there that will help.
