Custom user specific content on homepage?

    Hi, I’m extremely new to wordpress and buddypress so sorry in advance if this is a dumb question.

    I was wondering, is it possible to only show categories that a user expresses interest in via custom fields in the registration form?

    Say the user registers and puts a check next to sports and technology as areas of interest. When logged in, only entries categorized as sports and technology will be listed. Is that doable?
