Database, Storage and File Requirements for Scaling

    @mro7107

    I would like to know the database and storage requirements for scaling from 1 user to 1 million users over 5 or more years.

    Currently, my hosting provider only allows a maximum limit of 20MB for using a database, a limit of 100,000 files and 145GB of disk space.

    If users were to upload files such as images, and video clips onto my hosting server, will the files be compressed in a database or will it take up storage on the disk space?

    I am thinking of using AWS S3 for scaling. What would you recommend?

    @shanebp

    Uploaded files are not stored in the database.

    Scaling is a complex subject.
    You may need a series of changes as your site grows.
    iow. there are simple solutions ( such as increasing server resources ) that can get you to 100k users.
    That will give you time to explore using more complex solutions like AWS.
