    something a little more powerful would be great:

    eg: automatically delete inactive blogs after 3months, but first notify user, etc etc

    Ahh, details, details. Write a plugin. ;)

    Sorry, I don’t know of any sort of garbage collection type plugins for BP.

    Actually, come to think of it, this would be a WPMU thing, not specifically BuddyPress. You might have to check out the bigger WPMU communities and see if they have created anything like this already.
