Difference between WordPress users and Buddypress members

I’ve incorporated Buddypress into an existing WordPress installation. I am hoping to have both users who post blog entries with members who post in forums like this. Is there a way of giving some Buddypress members the privilege of posting on the blog?

I’ve tried to find some guide as to the relation between back-end users, found only on the dashboard, and buddypress members in the forums. Nothing has come up yet. It would be good to understand how they are related.

I am hoping that all the WP users can be also Buddypress members – do they need to register twice for this?

    Thanks for the advice.

All BP members are subscribers. If you want any of those members access to admin to post blogs then you make their account authors.

I don’t understand the difference between users and members. We have thousands of spam users and it’s not possible to mark them as spam either when we delete them. It feels like they have a negative effect on our site, but maybe I can just leave them there?
