Do these Features Exist somewhere?

I am in the middle of creating a BuddyPress site, and I am doing something different with the groups and I need different permissions. Is there some sort of plugin that allows me to change what the permissions are for members?

I don’t wan’t people to be able to join any group, but I want them to be able to see the content in them.

Then, I know this is a popular question, but any idea on any ETA for some sort of group album plugin?

Any help on these two issues would be greatly appreciated. Its interesting to try to overhaul the group system when my knowledge of PHP is very limited. Its been going very well so far, but we’ll see, lol.

    Thanks!

Would the ‘private’ group type work for you? It’s not trivial (or maybe even possible) to add a new type of group privacy without serious work.

@ndugger I don’t know of a plugin that supports these permissions — so, you’d would need to get your hands dirty in the PHP code. I would suggest assigning WordPress user roles to members, and then in the group template files enabling / disabling the Join capability based on user role.

We (21inspired) have some plans with regard to photo albums, but they are a little way off.

Eh, not excited about it, but I can manage it. I’ll end up doing what you suggested, Roger. Thanks!
