I had the typical problem that forum creation brought an error message.

I downloaded the WordPress Zip and the Buddypress Zip and FTP´d them up to my DreamHost domain and the problem was solved. So it´s the 1-click install the problem.

They generally are, developers would not use them, you shouldn’t too

I’ve been on Dreamhost for almost 10 years — yeah I know — and I strongly recommend that you do not use their 1-click installs. They work fine, to a point, but.
