edits not showing up?

Super easy one folks.
for some reason, my edits are not showing up.

example:
BuddyPress Default: Single Post (single.php) – editing through WP editor. so I know it’s the right page.
deleting huge chunks, adding test text. Nothing.

profile-loop.php

am I not editing the right pages?
am I not viewing the right pages?
kind of baffled and quite ready to pull out my hair.

what am I missing here?

nope. damn. I would have liked to feel stupid if it meant that this was fixed. damn.
