Email notification with excerpt only

I would like the digest email notification to contain only an excerpt of the ‘usermessage’ and not the whole message content.
A “Read more…” link would then the lead to the site.

How can this be accomplished?

You can short the content length of you paragraph to make it Read More.

How can I short the content length?

Even when a message in the group activity stream is very long and shows the Read more… the notification email contains the full length message!
I am looking to have only an excerpt of the message in the notification email.

I’m interested in the same thing! I want them to read it on the website, not in email.

Presumably this is referring to the BuddyPress Group Email Subscription plugin? Have you tried rasing this as a feature request on that plugins forums?

Any emails sent via BuddyPress like new messages from users etc
